Front Crawl Swimming Drills | Single Arm
This Single Arm drill allows you to concentrate on stroke accuracy. By isolating one arm, it allows you to focus on improving technique.
Push off in a streamline position with both arms extended.
Try one length swimming left arm only, leaving the right arm extended forward – once the hand has pushed past the hips, recover the arm back to the front of the stroke alongside the static arm.
Pivot at the elbow, point the fingertips downwards.
Repeat with opposite arm. If you find this difficult, add fins to assist.
For an advanced version, swim with the unused arm by the side to allow full rotation, focus on a full single arm movement and breathe in between strokes. For this version of the drill, it’s highly recommended to use fins.
