Kick on your side with your lead arm outstretched, shoulder close to your cheek.

Keep your head still and chin pointing downwards, rotating your head to breathe.

Kick enough to elevate your trailing shoulder above the surface of the water.

Ensure your lead arm is parallel to the floor and below the surface whilst it is outstretched.

If required, use a float to help keep your lead arm from sinking when breathing.
